Attending the Exodus conference was eye opening for me, as someone who does not struggle with same-sex attraction but has a God-given passion to help those who do struggle. This conference helped me to break down a lot of subconscious stereotypes that I didn’t realize I still held. God also taught me the intensity of my own need for God’s grace—not one of us is without that daily need. — Charity

The Exodus Conference opened my eyes to the possibility of Freedom. I had heard rumors of this freedom, and had desired an escape for so long– but all by myself. Exodus redefined freedom for me into something that I could not do alone and yet would not have to do all alone. I knew Jesus was the only way to Freedom, but I had somehow missed my mark in a Church that seemed to not understand me or know what to do with me. I now know that I am not alone, and I am understood. There are thousands out there that no longer want to buy the lie popular culture is confining us with! This year’s Exodus conference was a hallmark experience in my life. Prior to attending the conference I had been having serious doubts about walking out of/away from homosexuality. Even in the first few days of the conference all I could think about was getting out of there and getting home to pursue a gay lifestyle. But it was in the last few days of the conference that God took hold of my heart. I learned to just admit where I was before the Lord and to submit my feelings to Him. All I could do was come before Him and give Him my heart, even though I did not feel like it and did not want to. He took my rebellion, my hurt, my confusion, and supernaturally turned it into a resolve to fight this and walk out of it. I truly felt the Lord telling me that if I stuck with it, He would walk me out of it. If I decided to go down the other road, I felt the Lord telling me that there were no guarantees that I would ever come back. This year’s conference taught me a lot about being honest before our Father…flaws and all. And it also served as a fork in the road where I made a real, lasting, and true decision to follow Jesus out of homosexuality. — Thomas

The Exodus conference was an amazing experience for me. I was never one of those guys who got “on fire” for God at camps. Every year I’d see people experience a “spiritual high” at camp – I just thought they were idiots. Now I can at least relate to what they were talking about, and I know that God did a work in me there. Exodus really opened my eyes up to God and what He has for me. He helped me understand that He wants to meet these deeply felt needs Himself, rather than me running to all these things that I think will fulfill me. It was amazing to be there with thousands of people going through the same thing – people who are sincerely willing to give up whatever God asks them to follow Him. It was amazing to hear the stories of guys who have been healed, but also the stories of guys who have lived a celibate life for 20+ years and are still standing firm against strong temptations through God’s grace. — Scott

I’ve never struggled with same-sex attraction but have many friends and loved ones that do. The information I received at the conference was invaluable. My favorite part of the whole time, though, was the fellowship with other attendees. I made friends that will last a lifetime. — Sharon

I have been in inner-city ministry for over 25 years and this was my first Exodus Conference. I was impressed at the deep desire to glorify Jesus that was evident in every teaching session and I was pleasantly surprised at the superb quality of speakers and testimonies. God is prompting me to make a difference in the Body of Christ where SSA is concerned. Although I would never have considered myself homophobic, I embraced a lot of wrong thinking. Growth in my own heart over the last few years (and ministry with college age) prepared me “for such a time as this.” I’ve attended many conferences- most were outstanding or good. However, there was something different about the spirit during that week, something genuine that you could feel in your soul. I have experienced deep worship with the Holy Spirit moving in people. Yet there was something different here. The very first day I sobbed as I watched people go for prayer. The sheer volume of the hurt and pain hit me in the gut. At the same time I was also weeping for joy at the hope that was in the room. — Sherry

At 51 and sober I found out that there was another addiction in my life. I figured I could keep this a secret and no one would ever know, but God had other plans for me. By his grace and mercy he has guided and directed me to be real and honest with my wife and my brothers in Christ, who are all walking along my side so that we can all be the true representation of the Body of Christ. The conference has enabled me to do and act in a godly manner with a more personal understanding of myself. — Oscar
